A collection of nineteen fuchi-gashira
18th to 19th century
Comprising fourteen of shakudo, as follows: Mino-Goto, carved and inlaid in gilt on nanako with dragons in clouds; various mon inlaid in gold, silver, copper and shakudo on ishime; Goto style, carved with waves and inlaid with gilt chidori; Hannya mask and copper bell beater with gilt details; Kanyu and Gentoku reading a calligraphic scroll and a pole arm with fan in iroe takazogan; Mino-Goto kiku blooms in iroe takazogan on nanako; inlaid gold and silver plum blossoms on ishime; a tachi and armour sections in gold and silver takazogan on nanako; bands of karakusa on gold-splashed ground; Mino-Goto gilt kiku-mon on nanako; resting chariots and cherry trees from the Genji Monogatari, in gilt takazogan; formal trailing plum blossoms, partly gilt, on ishime; Shoki searching for an oni who hides beneath a bridge, details in gold and copper, on ishime; and breaking waves in Goto style; one of shibuichi, inlaid in iroe takazogan with owls perched on branches; one of copper, carved with sambiki-saru; and three of iron, two inlaid in gilt with trailing foliage, the third with netting in gold hirazogan, all unsigned; with three-tiered wood storage box.
