Of mokko form with raised rim, carved in relief with a European armillary sphere on a stand, the reverse with a constellation of seven stars, signed and dated Joshu Nishijin ju, Umetada Tachibana Shigeyoshi, Keicho jusan-nen (1608). 8.9cm (3½in).

There were several generations of the Umetada family using the name Shigeyoshi and it is unclear by which the present example might have been made.
