A shibuichi tsuba
By the studio of Kano Natsuo, Meiji period (late 19th century)
The rounded square, slightly mokko plate with a raised rim hammered around the edges and decorated with a carp leaping to catch an insect in copper takazogan, the water rendered in shishiaibori, the reverse with a continuation of the design, inscribed Natsuo and with kao and an additional archaistic Chinese character in gold hirazogan, and with date corresponding to 1863; with wood storage box with attestation, signed and sealed by Sato Kanzan
