A Shinto katana

The blade of shinogi-zukuri, of shallow zori, medium notare-ha of nie and nioi with sunagashi, itame-hada, the ubu-nakago with kiri-yasuri and one mekugi-ana, signed and dated Mutsu no daijo Miyoshi Nagamichi, Toshiro, Kanbun ju kanoe-inu nen ni gatsuhi (February 1670), in shirasaya; with koshirae: black lacquered ribbed saya; the fittings of shakudo, the tsuba of mokko form, carved and inlaid with the Omi Hakkei (the Eight Views of Lake Biwa); the fuchi-gashira similarly decorated with temple scenes; the associated kurikata inlaid with a straw hat and kiku bloom; and the kojiri of copper, in the form of a kiku bloom, unsigned.
