A tate hagi do tosei gusoku
Mid to late Edo Period, 18th/19th century
The helmet is a 62 plate russet iron suji bachi (ridged bowl) fitted with a three lame black lacquered ko manju jikoro (neck guard). To the front a gold and red lacquered shikame mayedate (a demon fore crest). A black lacquered menpo (face mask) with hair moustache. The russet iron go-mai tate hagi okegawa do (cuirass of five vertical sections), the front plate with a gold lacquered water dragon, black lacquered kusazuri (tassets), black lacquered ko sode (shoulder guards), russet iron shino gote (sleeves) russet iron plates to the haidate (thigh guards) and russet iron shino suneate (shin guards) laced in dark blue sugake odoshi (spaced lacing). Together with an armour box.
