A WELL-MOUNTED SHINTO KATANA

The blade of shinogi-zukuri form, broad notare-ha of nie with ashi and kinsuji, distinct mokume-hada, with suken horimono to one side and futatsuji-hi and bonji to the other; the ubu-nakago with o-sujikai-yasuri and one mekugi-ana, signed Izumi no kami Kanesada; in shirasaya with sayagaki; koshirae: the saya of deep red lacquer, decorated with chidori in takamakie; iron tsuba of lobed form with shakudo mimi, signed Naoaki with kao; gold and shakudo menuki of maru-ni mitsu-gashiwa-mon; the other fittings of shakudo ishime with maru-ni mitsu-gashiwa-mon in relief, unsigned. 65.4cm (25¾in) long.
