Description
Tsuba from the famous Murakami Jochiku School. This classic tsuba from this school are rarely seen outside of major collections. The textbook surface work along with the classic style of shakudo for the main design automatically leads us to the Murakami School. Jochuku is the headmaster, along with his brother Masanori and his 2 daughters, they created a new style of machi bori that became very popular among the elite. The well represented butterfly flying above the flowers is very well done in such a limited space. The use of multi metals is done without exception as well. Base plate is done in shibuichi with a crepe’ type of surface. The butterfly and plants are done in deep dark shakudo with gold and red copper for the accents. A shakudo rim accents the mimi. This tsuba has yet to be submitted for shinsa, but is guaranteed to pass as Murakami School or better at the NBTHK shinsa if sent through us within one year of purchase, full refund if result is not as stated.
