The work was originally a short book, frameless version. 輾 was commissioned by Tokyo frame making staff, simple design based on teak wood.

中林竹溪(1816年〜1867年)京都出身江戸末期之南畫家,名成業、字紹父,號竹溪,別號臥河居,以寫實畫著稱,其父是著作等身著有「 論畫書」的幕末文人畫的理論指導者中林竹洞。
彫金
海野銀三郎,明治29年入東京美術學校彫金科,師事彫金帝室技藝員加納夏雄。 同年有滑川兼彦(勝溪)、市島市太郎等, 前輩有清水龜藏(南山 ) ,明治29年畢業、 海野豊太郎 (珉乘) 明治30年畢業、四谷正美明治32年畢業等。
海野銀三郎明治34年7月畢業,號盛乘, 大正11年辭世,得年僅四十五。
(東京美術學校在明治22年開校之初僅設立美術工藝科金工部,授課內容也僅有彫金一項, 到了明治38年9月才分設了鍛金部合併為金工科)
此作品完成於金工科第二年約在明治30年前後 ,年僅約20歲的海野銀三郎挑選了中林竹溪的 「落花に野豬」為下絵,以鏨與槌展現了毛彫、片切彫、象嵌等多重彫金技法,刀法之利落明快毫無遲鈍之感, 讓人不禁質疑這真是入學僅二年的學生之作,果真是名師高徒。
從出處及原附短冊木額得知本作為新潟県村上家舊藏。
作品原為短冊素版無框,輾轉委託東京製框職人,以櫻木為材簡約設計。
下絵又稱下書き、下描き、就是底稿、畫稿。
短册是指為了書寫和雕刻等用途、所裁切出來木、竹、金屬等長條形物品, 詩人會把所作之短歌、俳句書寫其上留存起來。 七夕節人們也會把祈願之事,書寫在短册上懸掛起來,以期美夢成真。
