Fuchi with Halberd with Dragon’s Head

This fuchi shows the blade of a halberd with a dragon head decoration at its base. This halberd is the weapon of the 2nd-century Chinese general Kanyu (Ch. Guan Yu [Kuan Yu]). A fan of feathers (“hauchiwa”) is on the back. Kanyu is depicted on the matching kashira, Walters 51.945.
