*Hirata Hikozō. The sukashi appears to be a nail motif. It is fitted with a fukurin rim, which can be considered a hallmark of Hikozō’s work.

While there are Hikozō attributions that show little sense of wabi, this piece in particular has a markedly wabi character: the surface of the plain copper plate shows wrinkle-like textures, which further enhance its subdued, refined atmosphere.*
The surface pattern visible on the reverse side also adds a quiet, subdued elegance to the piece.
