I find the way the river here is carved to extremely successful. I love the sculptural quality and the clever way it incorporates the negative cut out bit as part of the stream. This use of negative space in the design is also a feature of the Tanaka school’s work. This particular tsuba isn’t Tanaka school though but clearly strongly influenced by their style….as will our one be.
