COMMENTS
The Japanese HO-O, is quite similar to the western phoenix also called paradise bird. It is a rather lucky symbol. According to ancient chinese legend the mythical HO-O, only appeared in the KIRI, paulownia woods during the coronation of a new emperor. This appearance blessed the reign of the new emperor. For this reason it has long been associated with the japanese Imperial Household.
