This tsuba is another “burly” piece. It is made of suaka (red copper) with a shakudo mimi and hitsu liner. The piece measures 81.8mm (H) X 78.7mm (W) X 5.59mm (T, at nakago ana), 6.10mm (T, max.) and weighs 269.8g.
The quality of the work points to it being shounai I think. I am not sure what the theme the maker had in mind for it. It could be rain, bamboo, boards stacked edge to edge, or just an abstract pattern (Add what you think in the comments please! I am kinda stuck on this one). It looks pretty late to me, so I’d call it late Edo period.
